In the middle of a bright sunny summer will come Flag Day, a day to celebrate the adoption of our national flag. The good old Star and Stripe banner of the American people, our national flag was made official in 1777 with the resolution passed by the 2nd Continental Congress. Flag day is 14th June, a midsummer's day designed especially to celebrate the delights of summer and the pride of our great nation.
Make Flag Day a day to look back and remember our Founding Fathers. All this can be done with a dash of fun on a lovely summer's day or a fragrant summer night. You can celebrate Flag Day with your crew as a symbol of national dignity or have a party for your kids to teach them the importance of home and country. Kids will love a theme party on Flag Day as much as adults. Decorate the whole place with blue, white and red in the form of stripes and stars. Make sure you let everyone know that the dress code is stars and stripes as well. For your kids, you could have a great pool party with your child wearing a bathing suit or towel with the flag on it.
Food is no problem, serve anything - America is a melting pot of different cultures and traditions. Go ahead and make your favorite food - Italian, Jewish, German, French, you name it. Alternatively, have party guests each bring a plate of food to share. Either way, you're sure to please your guests.
Next time Flag Day rolls around, why not celebrate it with family and friends? More than anything, it's a good excuse to get together and enjoy each other's company.
